But the stock antenna is plastic coated: the metal is hidden away somewhere inside, so we don't know how big the working antenna is.
These ones are solid metal.

Remember, they design for cost too. I'm pretty sure those plastic stock ones are cheaper.
I have one of bluedayz' antennas and my reception is indistinguishable from stock. In fact, if I wasn't so hesitant to believe myself, I'd say the stubby reception is slightly better, because I really can't remember getting 4 bars at my house with the stock antenna. I do with the stubby.
